Do Not Go Gentle is an annual arts festival held in Dylan Thomas’ hometown since 2011. We aim to be a festival Dylan might have liked, and yes that involves beer, but it also involves cosy and atmospheric venues, great acts, and the people of Swansea who first inspired him to write all those years ago.
A smorgasbord of music in English and Welsh, comedy, spoken word and film. Previous headline performers have included Rhys Ifans, Jo Brand, Arthur Smith, John Hegley, Phil Kay, Atilla The Stockbroker, Murray Lachlan Young, Kevin Allen, Luke Wright, Mike Garry, Jeff Towns and Andrew Sinclair.
2017 marks our 6th birthday, and to celebrate we are moving further into the city centre than ever before, with bigger venues and a brand new team on board. All in all it has been a wonderful ride. We are proud of what we have achieved, and are excited about the years to come, but most of all we hope that Dylan is up there smiling and raising a glass to what we’ve done in his name…
"This very special festival aims to be the kind of celebration of the arts that Dylan Thomas himself would have enjoyed. The result is both entertaining and inspiring… and a warm tribute to the life and work of the great poet"THE TELEGRAPH
"Its carefully curated line up; easily as literary and highbrow as Hay, certainly as sweet-sounding as Sŵn, and just as loony as Laugharne but with a mischievous Swansea spirit all of its own. One can skip from bar to bar, venue to venue, like a young Dylan, taking in the sights and sounds as you go."BUZZ MAGAZINE
"Do Not Go Gentle festival, features scabrous comedy and raucous music in English and Welsh"SUNDAY TIMES
